Although Karagöz wakes up one morning and finds himself not transformed into a giant insect, he fells old and exhausted. Hacivat tells him that in this state he cannot stand on the screen any longer and that he must leave the screen. However, according to tradition, he has to find a new Karagöz and hand over the hat that he uses. There two conditions to become Karagöz; the first one is to be funny, and the second is to be dissident. Everywhere is informed in order to find someone who is both funny and dissident and the incoming candidates are evaluated by Karagöz himself
